What are the best coves in Ibiza?

To discover which are the treasures of Ibiza, the coves that should not be missing in your itinerary, we will go through each cardinal point until we get to the best ones.

We will pass from north to west. From east to south. And in our tour we will find the most paradisiacal corners of the island. Those that offer crystal clear waters, golden sands and natural landscapes worth photographing.

Here is a guide to the best coves in Ibiza, divided by areas, so you can plan your visit and make the most of your stay.

Coves in the North of Ibiza

Our first stop on this free tour of the most beautiful coves of Ibiza will be the north of the island.

Cala Benirrás

We are only a 10 minute drive from San Miguel. This cove has different services: hammocks, umbrellas and a lot of bars and restaurants to have a drink after sunbathing and swimming.

In summer you can see a small hippy market, very typical of Ibiza. It is open every day except Wednesdays and Thursdays from late morning until late afternoon.

Its crystal clear waters are perfect to see the seabed while snorkeling. But watch out! The bottom is rocky. Don’t leave this cove until you see one of the most beautiful sunsets.

Cala Xarraca

We are now a 5 minute drive from the village of San Juan or the town of Portinatx. We are in Cala Xarraca, a small paradise 90 meters long and 15 meters wide.

Surely you have already seen it in pictures, as it is one of the most photographed coves of Ibiza, being surrounded by an Ibizan stamp: pine trees dotted with white houses.

In front of the beach there is a rock. If you are brave you can jump into the water before checking the depth!

And, if you are hungry, you can stop at the restaurant to try typical Ibiza food while enjoying spectacular views.

Cala d'en Serra

Now we have not moved much, since we are in the same town of Portinatx. This small cove is isolated and little known, so it is perfect if you are looking for a place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

The area is very popular for hiking. A well-marked path runs along the coast and leads to the emblematic Moscarter lighthouse, painted in blue and white, which is the highest in the Balearic Islands.

Coves in San Antonio (west of Ibiza)

Now we have moved to the west side of the island and we are going to know the best coves in the area of San Antonio.

Cala Comte

Only 15 minutes by car from San Antonio, Cala Conta needs no introduction. I’m sure it was already on your itinerary before reading this article.

But, if this is not the case, you should know that its 800 meters long are between turquoise blue waters that will make you feel in the Caribbean. It is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful beaches on the island.

If you go in high season, you should know that it is one of the busiest. So go early, early in the morning, to secure your place.

Cala Bassa

Surrounded by a dense pine forest, Cala Bassa is a beach of fine sand and transparent waters that offers various leisure options, such as restaurants and beach bars.

This cove has wooden walkways to facilitate access for people with reduced mobility or baby strollers.

It is another of the most important coves of Ibiza, so you should go early if you want to get a spot.

Cala d'en Salada

Cala Salada, a small sandy cove surrounded by pine-covered hills, is a favorite destination for the island’s inhabitants. It is also perfect for anchoring a boat and enjoying its crystal clear waters.

To the right of the cove is a picturesque stone tower with paths leading to the adjacent sandy beach, Cala Saladeta.

Also, if you don’t mind walking a bit, you can go to the caves of Ses Fontanelles and see the famous cave paintings dating back to the Bronze Age.

Coves in Santa Eulalia (east of Ibiza)

Now we go to another part of Ibiza. It is our turn to go along the coast of the east wing of the island. We are now in Santa Eulalia.

Cala Llenya

A 10-minute drive from San Carlos, we find this small cove of 190 meters long and 60 meters wide.

Its wide curve of fine white sand makes it perfect for sunbathing. It is surrounded by pine trees, providing a quiet and isolated environment.

If you want to do nudism, to the left of this cove, where there is a strip of sand without sun loungers, it is a perfect place.

Cala Nova

If you are in Es Caná, this cove is on your way. Cala Nova is a wide, long and curved sandy beach. Its shallow waters extend considerably out to sea.

Its crystal clear waters are perfect for snorkeling and, if you are lucky and there is a little wind, you can surf among the waves.

Cala Martina

To the south of the well-known village of Es Caná, on the road that leads to the Hippy Market of Es Canar, is Cala Martina.

This paradise is ideal for the whole family, as its waters are shallow and the absence of currents and waves is noticeable.

There are several restaurants and bars along the beach.

Coves in the south of Ibiza

Our last stop is the south of the island. What coves can we find in this area of the island?

Cala d'Hort

Cala d’Hort offers breathtaking views of the islet of Es Vedrà, considered one of the most magical places in Ibiza. Its transparent waters and natural environment make it a perfect place to enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the south of the island.

It is one of the best areas of Ibiza to watch the sunset. In the area, there are three excellent restaurants to enjoy fresh products.

Cala Jondal

At 15 minutes from Ibiza town you will find Cala Jondal, a beach surrounded by pine trees and cliffs. You will be able to see many boats… And some of them very expensive!

It is one of the most exclusive beaches in Ibiza, with an excellent variety of beach bars and beach clubs that are especially popular with the rich and famous.

Es Cavallet

Es Cavallet is one of the best known beaches in Ibiza, famous for its gay-friendly atmosphere and its natural beauty. The beach is part of a nature reserve, offering an unspoiled and peaceful environment for those looking to unwind and enjoy the sun and sea.

Of great natural beauty, it is sheltered by dunes and a small green belt of shadows and hills. It is one of the best nudist beaches in Ibiza.
